Chairman of Presidential Council Fayaz Al-Sarraj received Saturday the credentials of British ambassador to Libya Frank Baker in the presence of Foreign Minister Mohammad Siyala at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli.

The British ambassador emphasized the depth of relations between Britain and Libya, recalling the World War II era where both countries stood side by side.

He further stressed that his country will continue its close cooperation to help the Presidential Council to fulfil its duty and to help Libya regain its role in the international community.

The ambassador spoke about his country's support of a number of projects throughout Libya, expressing the UK's willingness to provide more support and close cooperation in the field of trade, combating terrorism and illegal immigration.

Baker also announced that Libyan citizens would soon be able to apply for British visas from Tripoli after the embassy started operation from the capital.
