The Mayor of the Municipality of Al-Sharqiyah in the south-west of the country, Amhamed Arab, has urged the authorities to intervene and put an end to the Chadian opposition gangs that are violating the south region.

Arab confirmed the killing of four and the arrest of four others from the Chadian side in the clashes that took place on Sunday.

In a press statement, the Mayor of Al-Sharqiyah explained that the forces of Khalid Ibn Al-Walid Battalion clashed with the Chadian rebels, which heavily spread in locations near the Municipality, after the kidnapping of six locals from the city, pointing out that the number of people kidnapped by the rebels amounted to nine individuals.

He also insisted that the city lacks any form of government security service and that the Security Directorate of Murzuq has been closed since 2013, indicating that the Battalion of Khalid Ibn Al-Walid is composed of the sons of the city and its aim is to secure the region.
