The Libyan Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has warned of the threats posed by the presence of Russian Wagner Group, Sudanese Janjaweed and other foreign mercenaries to the Libyan national security, saying the Libyan Army forces will continue to cleanse the country of mercenaries.

Tweeting on Saturday, the GNA Foreign Ministry confirmed that Libyan Army forces will continue to "cleanse the country of all mercenaries and aggressors in order to preserve the national security of Libya".

The Foreign Ministry Ministry the GNA added that Russian and Janjaweed mercenaries as well as other foreign elements fighting for Haftar's forces pose a threat to the Libyan, regional and international security.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry also called on the countries that have oil firms working in Libya to cooperate with the state of Libya to unveil the violations of the mercenaries and the countries supporting them to be subject to international justice.

Meanwhile, the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) said Friday it was deeply concerned by the presence of Russian and other foreign mercenaries inside Sharara oilfield - Libya's largest - after a convoy of vehicles entered the field on the evening of Thursday June 25, 2020 and met with representatives of the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG).
