The Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala met Monday with the Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Milanesi in Marseille, France, on the margins of Group 5+5 meetings and discussed the ongoing war on Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar's forces.

Sayala told Milanesi that the government of National Accord aims to build a civilian state where Libyans can decide on their future leaders through elections.

He also said that the government is continuing with its defending of civilians till the attacking forces return to their previous positions.

Milanesi and Sayala also revised the initiative proposed by Fayez Al-Sarraj for peace and stability in Libya.

This is the second meeting between the two ministers since the attack on Tripoli has started on April 04. They discussed the attack ramifications in last May.

Italy has publicly rejected the attack by Haftar's forces on Tripoli and called for a ceasefire and returning to the political process.

Sayala headed Libya's delegation to Group 5+5 meetings in France.
