The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, met with her Maltese counterpart, Ian Borg, in Valletta and confirmed that Libya had been facing a political crisis amid lots of challenges, reiterating that there's hope for reaching a Libyan-Libyan solution as well as a comprehensive dialogue for all parties to lead the country to elections.

The visit by Al-Mangoush comes as part of the commemoration of the Libyan-Maltese historical relations - June 11, 1964.

Al-Mangoush said that the mediation efforts of the Advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams, in order to reach the constitutional base is almost finished.

The meeting saw a discussion on the latest political developments in Libya and the region, and ways to enhance prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in several areas, especially economic and humanitarian cooperation, including the file of fighting illegal immigration.

The Libyan Foreign Minister also met Maltese President George Vella at the Grandmaster's Palace in the capital, Valletta. Vella reiterated the depth of relations between the two countries, stressing his support for peace and stability efforts in Libya.
