Minister of Oil, Mohamed Aoun, affirmed the ministry's support for law enforcement steps and the measures taken to protect the wealth of Libyans.

The minister's remarks came in a statement Wednesday, in response to the arrest of a member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and two employees of Akakus company, expressing confidence that all duty bearers are following the legal procedures and law.

In his statement, Aoun also praised the efforts of the Libyan Intelligence Service, the Attorney General, and the regulatory, security, and administrative agencies in this regard.

The Public Prosecution had issued a ruling to remand member of the Board of Directors of the NOC, Belgasem Shangir, the director of Safety, Security and Professional Health Department at Akakus Oil Operations Company, and an official at the Administrative Affairs Unit of the same department.

The Public Prosecution charged the three defendants with power abuse and obtaining an unlawful benefit.
