Around 20 Filipinos and 100 Bangladeshi technicians have decided to resign from the International Group for Engineering, a local contracting company with Benghazi Medical Center, over unpaid salaries.

A worker told Libya Observer that their salaries have not been paid for 8 months despite the approval of Al-Thanni government in November to pay the dues of the company with a total of LYD 3.5 million.

"Our company is refusing to pay our salaries despite the money they got from the government. They only make promises." The worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

"We are afraid to stage a protest to demand our rights because they threatened to call the police." He added.

The International Group for Engineering signed a contract for operations and maintenance with Benghazi Medical Centre early this year. The contract ends in March 2016.
