Independent sources have confirmed to The Libya Observer the occurrence of a fight with blade weapons between the staff of the Libyan Embassy in Kuwait following the refusal of consul Abdulali Derrsi to hand over his duties to his successor assigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The sources detailed that the quarrel began with punches and slaps before escalating into a vicious brawl, involving blade weapons and causing severe injuries.

The consul's relatives including his brother, who were appointed by Derrsi to work in the embassy, attacked the newly appointed consul with knives, before two staff members of the embassy tried to interfere in order to resolve the dispute, unfortunately, they were seriously injured and were referred to hospital for treatment, the sources said.

The Foreign Ministry has released no official statement yet regarding this unfortunate incident.
