The Libyan Fatwa House has offered condolences to the Libyan people and the families of Misrata's Al-Dafniya checkpoint’s guards, who were killed early today in a suicide attack by IS militants.

The FH reiterated, in a statement today, the renunciation of the Takfiri ideology adopted by the IS militias whose acts are unrelated to Islam and the Islamic teachings. It also called on the Libyans to unite themselves in their fight against the IS spread led by foreign figures, who aim at distorting the peaceful image of Islam and at plunging Libya into a Levant-like destructive scenario.

The FH urged as well the General National Congress’s brigades to tighten their security grip on the checkpoints and all other places, whereas it asked the GNC, the SG, and the General Staff to assume responsibilities and bridge the gaps by giving support and equipment to the front lines and checkpoints so that they can ensure a better security environment.

The FH’s statement concluded by a call for providing good treatment for the injured by sending them to the most qualified hospitals worldwide, stressing that those who failed to protect and secure the checkpoints must be soon held accountable.

Similarly, the Ministry of Interior has offered condolences to the fatalities’ families and condemned this terrorist “coward” attack, which killed five guards on duty and injured others, saying that such attacks by the so-called IS groups aim only at destabilizing Libya.

It also urged the checkpoints to be sharply focused so that they can hit with an iron fist all those who attempt to jeopardize the lives of the Libyan citizens.
