The spokesman for the European Union (EU) in the Middle East and North Africa, Luis Miguel Bueno, reiterated that Libya is a major priority for the EU, which is staunchly and actively involved in resolving the Libyan crisis.

Bueno added, in a press interview, that there cannot be any military solution to the Libyan crisis, stating that the only solution to overcoming the crisis is through the political process and not by any military means.

He said that there is an excellent opportunity to look ahead and witness how the international community could possibly assist Libya to consolidate significant progress, adding that this is a historical chance that cannot be passed over, suggesting that two priorities must be addressed.

These priorities are namely, the organization of general elections due to be held on December 24, along with the total implementation of the ceasefire agreement which includes the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan soil.
