The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, commended the resumption of oil production and exportation, reiterating from Tripoli the fact that oil is for all Libyans and they should all benefit from its revenues, the media office of the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, reported Saturday.

Al-Sirraj and Mogherini met Saturday in the presence of the EU ambassador to Libya, Bettina Muscheidt, the foreign minister Mohammed Sayala and other officials who all discussed many pressing issues, including illegal immigration.

"The EU fully supports the Presidential Council and its efforts to stabilize Libya." Mogherini said, according to the media office.

"Not only immigration, but also economic support, municipalities' support, coastguards' training programs and southern border security cooperation are all points included in the EU policies toward Libya." She remarked.

This is the first time Mogherini visit Libya. She met also with the Head of the UNSMIL, Ghassan Salame.

The tow officials agreed to work in collaboration regarding several issues in Libya, including elections, with a common consensus on the fact that al efforts must remain under the umbrella of the United Nations.

"Mogherini agreed to activate the joint work committees and to allocate scholarships in the EU universities for Libyan students, besides supporting the agreements Al-Sirraj made with the EU Parliament Chief." The media office said.

The office added that Mogherini and Al-Sirraj also came to terms regarding the need for a conclusive solution for the illegal immigration crisis and a plan to resolve problems in the source countries.
