180 illegal immigrants were rescued off Al-Zawiya shores, Libyan Coast Guard said Wednesday, hours after the motor of their boat broke down 31 miles off the shore.

A marine source said the EU-bound immigrants were in miserable conditions waiting for their fate before being rescued by the Coast Guard.

He added that the immigrants, including 19 women and children, were provided with first aid services and then taken to the Immigration Fight Agency in Al-Zawiya city.
