The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that his country will send troops to Libya on January 07-08 2020, adding that the Turkish Parliament will have to approve a motion for the deployment after its recess ends in a few days.

Addressing his party in Ankara, Erdogan said that the deployment motion will be sent to the Parliament as per the request of the Libyan Government of National Accord and according to the MoU signed between the two countries.

"We're watching the ongoing escalation in Libya and we continue to oppose the coup plotter Khalifa Haftar. Turkey supports the legitimate government in Tripoli against Haftar's attacks." Erdogan said.

He said the countries supporting Haftar in Libya are the same ones that supported the coup in Egypt against the legitimate government in there.

"Ankara and Tunis are going to cooperate to support the legitimate government in Libya through political efforts." Erdogan said, adding that Turkey insists that Tunisia, Algeria and Qatar should take part in Berlin conference on Libya.

Erdogan said Wednesday in a joint presser with Kais Saied that his country won't leave Libyans alone to suffer the consequences of Haftar's offensive, adding that Turkey recognizes the legitimate government of Fayez Al-Sarraj in Libya.
