The yet-to-be-approved Government of National Unity (GNU) in Libya has occupied people's attention with its logo for the last three days, instead of giving Libyans a glimpse at what the makeup of that cabinet is and what will happen if it is not endorsed by the House of Representatives.

The logo saga started Thursday when the GNU announced the winning logo to be used in all official documents and media, yet afterwards, social media users and activists lashed out at the logo selection because it was not original, rather it was bought from a shutter stock online and was already used by a certain company.

On Saturday, after the rejection of the logo similarities went viral in Libya, the GNU's media office announced a new logo and said it had withdrawn the logo that was presented last Thursday after it noticed the reactions that led to the fact that the logo was similar to an already existing one.

"The main conditions of the logo selection for the GNU was that in no way should the logo design be similar in essence with another logo. It must be original." The GNU's media office reiterated.

The new logo was the second favorable one out of the contest that was announced by the GNU on February 14. The award money for the logo designer is 5000 dinars (about $1000).
