The Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has reiterated his country's support for the Libyan Presidential Council as the only internationally recognized and legitimate government.

The Emir of Qatar met with Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha in Doha on Wednesday and renewed support to Libya in its efforts to build capabilities such as the institutions of police and military.

Bashagha arrived in Qatar on Wednesday and was met by the Prime Minister of Qatar Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani.

The Interior Ministry said on Facebook that the meetings discussed issues of mutual interest.

Bashagha was accompanied by deputy ministers of transportation, health, and foreign affairs as well as the coordinator of terrorism affairs at the Presidential Council.

Media reports by Libya Al-Ahrar TV said earlier this week that UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are plotting to withdraw recognition from the Presidential Council and give legitimacy only to the Tobruk-based House of Representatives by pressuring the Arab League, African Union and Organization for Islamic Cooperation to take their sides.
