The warehouses of the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections at Matiga Airport were destroyed in a new rocket attack by Haftar's militias on Friday.

The attack resulted in the destruction of electoral materials, including ballot boxes, voting booths, and other items used in previous elections, according to a statement issued by the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections.

"These electoral materials have been used since 2013 in municipal council elections by 117 municipalities," the statement reads.

The committee indicated that it was preparing for a new round of elections after they were suspended due to the war waged by warlord Khalifa Haftar on Tripoli.

Since April 2019, Haftar's militias continued to attack civilian facilities including Mitiga Airport with the support of foreign aircraft, drones, and Grad rockets, causing mass casualties and widespread destruction in the capital.
