Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Al-Qatrani has met with the Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, to talk over the constitutional base for future elections, according to separate statements issued by the two parties.

A statement by the HSC media office said the meeting dealt with the latest political developments, with a focus on the election file, in addition to following up on the functioning of the government and the critical problems hindering its performance.

Al-Mishri affirmed that consultation continues between the political parties to conduct the elections on constitutional and legal bases and ensure a fair electoral process and broad participation by citizens.

Meanwhile, the deputy PM media office said that Al-Qatrani continues to push forward the political track to achieve elections. "The meeting discussed the current political process, the most important of which is the constitutional rule that will enable citizens to exercise their right to choose who represents them, in the presidential and the legislative authority."

The statement indicated the need for continued communication between all parties to create a common ground based on constitutional and legal foundations that guarantee free and fair elections for all without excluding any party and with the broad participation of voters.
