An Egyptian trawler was apprehended by the Libyan Coast Guard on Thursday. The trawler was carrying sixteen Egyptian sailors who were caught red-handed fishing in the territorial waters of Libya, 40 miles off Zuwara coast, without prior permission.

The trawler was directed to Tripoli Naval Base and the sailors were handed over to the Attorney General's Office to take the necessary legal procedures.

Many Egyptian fishermen are used to entering the Libyan waters to conduct illegal fishing. In June, a trawler was intercepted off Misrata coast with 19 fishermen onboard.
