Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has invited the Head of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to visit Egypt for further talks on joint agreements and cooperation between the two countries.

Madbouly’s invitation came during his meeting with Dbeibah, Tuesday, in Tripoli, in the presence of several ministers from both sides.

The GNU media office said in a statement that the parties discussed regional issues of common interest and stressed the importance of intensifying coordination and consultation on various political issues.

Discussions covered cross-cutting themes, including the reopening of the Egyptian embassy, ​​enhancing the services provided by the consular offices, and facilitating the crossing and movement procedures for citizens from both countries.

They also explored ways to stimulate trade between the two countries by activating the maritime line and resuming direct flights, insisting that these steps are instrumental for expanding cooperation in other fields.

The GNU media office confirmed that several agreements were signed with the Egyptian side, mainly in the fields of electricity, communications, infrastructure, technical cooperation and investments.

Meanwhile, Dbeibah reiterated the historical relations between Egypt and Libya, praising the Egyptian role in supporting stability and security in Libya.

"The need for strategic partnerships is key amid the security, economic and political conditions the region is experiencing," Dbeibah said.

For his part, the Egyptian Prime Minister affirmed his country's support for Libya and its dedication to seeing a united Libya advancing towards development and national reconciliation.

The two sides also agreed to activate the Libyan-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee and to hold its 11th session as a step towards fostering bilateral cooperation.

On Tuesday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly arrived in the capital, Tripoli, leading a high-level delegation consisting of 75 officials, including 11 ministers.
