The National Federal Bloc said on Tuesday it would not recognize the upcoming constitution of the country which is being drafted by the Constituent Assembly in the eastern city of Al-Bayda.

The bloc threatened in a statement it would boycott and prevent any referendum on the new constitution once it's accomplished.

"We will establish Sanousia Emirate or Free Cyrenaica State if our demands are not met." The statement warned.

Sanoussia Emirate refers to King Idris Al-Sanoussi who ruled Libya from 1951 to 1969.

Federalists are calling for the return to the country's unamended 1951 constitution which would reinstate the Sanoussi monarchy.
