A soldier was killed and two others wounded in an attack on Al-Jibs checkpoint for the Infantry Brigade 301 of the Libyan Army in the southern gate of Tripoli on Sunday.
The brigade, formerly known as Al-Halboos Brigade, said their forces came under surprise attack by gunmen who sprayed the checkpoint with bullets and fled away.
The Misrata-origin brigade explained that the treacherous attack came after the arrest of one of the notorious drug lords in the area by the brigade, which actively operates in Al-Swani suburb of Tripoli.
“The gunmen attacked the checkpoint after hearing that we had handed over the drug lord to the Special Deterrence Force”. The brigade added.
