The Department of DNA Laboratories at the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced that it had obtained the final sample results of 34 missing persons, having conducted conformity testing through bone samples, comparing them with the referenced samples obtained from the families of the missing citizens.

In a statement, the Department indicated that 28 of the samples belong to individuals from Tarhuna who disappeared following the onslaught on Tripoli by Hartar’s forces and three samples belong to others who went missing following the bombing of the police training center in Zliten five years ago.

It further stated that there are two samples that belong to individuals from Zintan who were reported missing since 2014, along with one sample from an individual from Misrata who disappeared following a military plane crash last year.

The Department reiterated that analyses continue to be carried out on a further 1,300 samples taken from bodies found in mass graves, noting that reports will be referred promptly to the competent authorities in order to inform the awaiting families and to complete all legal procedures.
