A disagreement over the defense and interior ministries has led the Presidency Council of UN-imposed government to postpone announcement of the cabinet, sources have confirmed, as the 10-day deadline given by Tobruk Parliament to the Presidency Council to reshuffle the cabinet has already passed.

The media office of the government said Sunday the cabinet would be announced as soon as a consensus can be reached.

The sources elaborated that the western region signatories of Skhirat agreement are lobbying for the interior ministry, which is still rejected by the eastern camp, while the eastern signatories are demanding the ministry of defense.

Meanwhile, Dignity Operation armed brigades in Benghazi requested on Sunday that the defense ministry must be assigned to the eastern region and that only Khalifa Haftar or Al-Mihdi Al-Baragathi is chosen as head of the ministry.

"Our right of the defense ministry may not be waived, compromised, or negotiated, and we will not recognize any other figure for the ministry at any cost." The statement reads.

The armed brigades also threatened to consider the UN-imposed government as an illegitimate body if it failed to meet their demands.
