A militiaman from Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army has stabbed an on-duty doctor at Al-Jalaa Hospital for Surgery and Accidents in Benghazi, sources say.

Hospital officials said the militiaman stabbed Dr. Moatz Bo Khotwa in the right shoulder after he argued that Dr. Bo Khotwa was not the right specialist to treat his relative.

The relative of the militiaman was admitted to the Observation Unit of the hospital under the supervision of Dr. Bo Khotwa, but the militiaman insisted that Bo Khotwa is “orthopaedist and not a surgeon”, according to administration of the hospital.

The administration added that Dr. Khotwa received three stitches and is now in stable condition.

“It was the second attack on doctors on the same day,” the hospital said.
