A Dignity Operation military helicopter was shot down in south Sirte on Friday, sources confirmed, a day after two airstrikes on Jufra Airbase.

Defend Benghazi Brigades (DBB) said their fighters shot down the helicopter while it was trying to attack them. The DBB declined to report where the helicopter was brought down for security reasons.

“The pilot was found dead and the copilot is still missing,” Boshra Media Center, the media outlet of DBB, reported.

Sources said the helicopter was shot down in Jufra region where fighters of Defend Benghazi Brigades are active.

There were no comments from the command of Dignity Operation about the incident.

On Thursday, Dignity Operation warplanes bombed Al-Jufra Airbase, killing two fighters and wounding 12 others.
