Smearing campaign against Benghazi Defense Brigades by Dignity Operation media outlets in full gear

Benghazi Defense Brigades has rejected the claims of Dignity Operation media outlets about the alleged beheading of two rival fighters in Ras Lanuf.

The claims were originally posted Saturday on an unverified Facebook page called “Greater Sirte Operation Room,” but for Dignity Operation TVs and news websites, reliable news sources for several western diplomats and news agencies, this was a good card to play with.

They claimed that the two victims, Mohamed Awaidat and Emad Al-Zalitni, were fighters from Tripoli within Infantry 131 of Khalifa Haftar-led army.

“We totally deny the claims of so-called Greater Sirte Operation Room and denounce what the paid media are doing to smear Benghazi Defense Brigades.” A statement by BDB said.

Following the Beheading post, Dignity Operation Facebook pages were awash with photos of two slaughtered people claiming they are the two Dignity fighters. However, with google photo search, the circulated photos appeared to be taken from old ISIS beheading photos of prisoners.

“Why don’t they mention their residence in Tripoli to visit their families to offer condolences and verify the claim,” a social media activist reacted.

Benghazi Defense Brigades launched on March 03 “Return to Benghazi Military Operation” to facilitate the return of the city’s IDPs to their homes.

On their way, they took control of Sidra and Ras Lanuf oil terminals and handed them over to the forces of internationally recognized UN-proposed Presidency Council. However, Dignity Operation and its media outlets started a smearing campaign against Benghazi Defense Brigades accusing them of being Al-Qaida gunmen to urge the international community into supporting Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army.
