Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has responded to a notice by the Presidential Council, in which it demanded the PM to rapidly nominate a person to fill the post of defence minister, failing which the PC will take action to settle the issue.

In a letter addressed to the PC's head, Dbeibah pointed to the outcomes of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum regarding the nomination of ministers and the entity entrusted with them, noting that it is the PM's prerogative to name ministers and undersecretaries.

A few days ago, the Presidential Council called on the Prime Minister to attend a meeting next Sunday in the office of the Supreme Commander of the Army to consult on appointing the minister of defence.

The PC indicated in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister that in the event the latter did not attend the meeting, the Presidential Council will name a minister of defence and refer its proposal directly to the House of Representatives for a vote.
