The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah met Thursday in Istanbul with the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Defense Minister Halusi Akar and Chief of Intelligence Hakan Fidan, in order to discuss the unification of national and international efforts to support Libya elections.

The unannounced visit to Istanbul came after Dbeibah travelled to Malta on Wednesday accompanied by the Central Bank of Libya's governor and other officials.

Media sources reported on Wednesday that the Prime Minister designated by the House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha, arrived in Turkey. The sources said Dbiebah and Bashagha could meet Turkish officials together if their separate meetings with the Turkish side succeeded in the first place.

This comes as a part of Turkey's efforts to end the conflict in Libya before things escalate and spoil the ceasefire agreement of 2020 that halted war and opened dialogue.
