The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, has confirmed his intention to hold the legislative and presidential elections respectively, and prevent any party to obstruct and extend this mission.

This came during a video call with the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, during which they discussed the latest developments in the political process, efforts to achieve elections, and enhance the principle of transparency in the management of oil revenues.

PM Dbeibah stressed during the talks that any change in the country must take place through peaceful and legal means not through the use of force and the imposition of a fait accompli, according to the government media office.

For his part, Norland affirmed his country's support for all efforts made to reach a constitutional base and hold national elections, pointing to the political and economic importance of the government and Central Bank of Libya programs related to disclosing government expenditures.

“The Ambassador encouraged PM Dbeibah to work constructively with all Libyan stakeholders to hold elections and support efforts to protect and make transparent oil revenue expenditures for the benefit of the Libyan people”, the US embassy tweeted.
