The Libyan Presidential Council has ordered an extension of curfew hours across Libya in order to try and contain what seems to be a growing number of Coronavirus cases in the war-ravaged country.

The curfew hours will be from 14.00 to 07.00 every day starting Monday, March 30, according to a statement by the Presidential Council, which also decreased the working hours to only three (from 09.00 to 12.00)

The Presidential Council also prohibited travel among cities, except for health reasons and for government and public services of urgent matter.

The Presidential Council announced on March 21 a curfew from 18.00 to 06.00 in order to avoid a Coronavirus outbreak in the country, however from last Tuesday until today, Sunday March 29, the country's National Center for Disease Control has recorded 8 positive Coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, the high committee tackling Coronavirus issues in Libya sent the Presidential Council a number of recommendations to have more strict preventive measures to avoid a larger outbreak of the pandemic in the country, including the extension of curfew hours, decrease of working hours, and a ban on cross-country travel, which have all been approved.
