Member of the General National Congress, Abdulrahman Al-Sweihli, held talks in Algiers Sunday with the Algerian Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, over the relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Both sides also discussed issues of joint concern and ways of boosting the Libyan political dialogue.

Messahel reiterated his country’s undivided support for a balanced political agreement effected by the Libyans themselves, which then would be satisfactory to all and preserve Libya’s sovereignty.

On the other hand, Al-Sweihli spoke highly of the encouraging Algerian stance that backs up the political solution and rejects any foreign intervention in Libyan affairs, stressing that the GNC is to keep on exerting efforts to reach a peaceful solution that would end the Libyan crisis soon.

Meanwhile, Algeria hosts Tuesday the 7th ministerial meeting of Libya's neighbouring countries in presence of Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Niger, and Chad, in addition to representatives from the African Union, the Arab League, and the European Union.
