The Sabratha reconciliation committee said Friday that negotiations were still underway with the IS Fighting Room for a ceasefire in the city, while the Brigade 48 had agreed to it and expressed willingness to stop the fighting.

Meanwhile, in a televised statement, the Head of the Sabratha Military Council Taher Al-Gharabli said that an uneasy calm had descended on the city and was followed by renewed fighting.

The Health Ministry also announced on Friday on its Facebook page that the clashes - ongoing for two weeks now - caused so far 26 deaths and over 170 injuries, which is the first official details about the number of casualties in the city.

Likewise, the commander of the Brigade 48, Walid Zrig, said that the reconciliation committee were still trying to broker a truce and waiting for the signing of the IS Fighting Room.

He also said that the conditions in the city were very tragic as the Red Crescent volunteers could not provide any help due to lack of necessary equipment and security for the teams.

Relevantly, the Union of non-governmental organizations in Sabratha had held the official authorities in the city accountable for belated responds to the fighting that has been rageing on in the city for two weeks.
