The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, held a meeting Wednesday with a number of officials of the Italian energy company "Eni" and the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to discuss the technical and logistical aspects for a number of electricity sector projects, in addition to developing an urgent plan to increase the production capacity of power plants, so as to cover the needs of public consumption in Libya.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the GECOL, Abdul Majid Hamza, the Executive Director of the company Ali Sassi, Deputy Executive Director of Eni in the Middle East Fouad Krekshi, and Director General of ENI in North Africa Abdul Moneim Al-Arifi.

The meeting discussed the stages of Eni's implementation of a number of projects in the electricity sector, in addition to restarting units in the power plants in coordination with the GECOL, the Information Office of the Presidential Council explained on its Facebook page.

The Information office added that Al-Sarraj demanded the GECOL to quickly implement the program and targeted projects in order to address the short full of electrical power and ease the burden on the citizen.

The Italian company agreed in a meeting with Al-Sarraj last week to provide urgent technical assistance for electric power projects. The company also expressed its willingness to establish new plants to contribute to solving the electricity crisis in Libya.
