A bobby-trapped car exploded outside Jala Hospital of Benghazi Friday night leaving 5 people dead and 13 others injured, the hospital says.

Sources said the assailant parked the car opposite the hospital and detonated it remotely, causing a loud explosion that smashed windows and destroyed nearby cars.

The explosion came 1 day after a Dignity Operation Sahawat fighter attacked the hospital with a grenade following the death of his friend inside the hospital from injuries he sustained in Benghazi fighting, causing extensive damage to the hospital's reception.

Meanwhile, violent clashes continue in the city between Dignity Operation and Shura Council fighters for the third consecutive year.

Rogue General Khalifa Haftar launched Dignity Operation in May 2014 in a failed attempt to control the country. The operation has fragmented the society and split the country into two, east and west, while thousands of civilians have fled Benghazi to escape from the escalating violence.
