BRICS leaders have underscored the significance of preserving Libya’s sovereignty and union as well as turning down any ongoing conflicts among its political entities as soon as possible so that the country can achieve a national unity government.

BRICS leaders, who come from five countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, said in a statement Friday after a meeting in Ufa, Russia that they were concerned about the current escalation in Libya, which would result in negative consequences in the Middle East, North Africa, and the coast region.

They also indicated that Libya’s sovereignty is mandatory sending forth their utter support and warm thankfulness for the efforts exerted by the Head of the UNSMIL, Bernardino Leon and the neighbor countries as well as by the African Union.
