Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov and the UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis stressed in a phone call the necessity to implement the roadmap approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in November 2020.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the two parties emphasized the need to stick to the date set for the nationwide elections on December 24 of this year.

According to the statement, the talks also touched upon "the significance of further coordination of the world community’s efforts, with the central role of the United Nations, so as to take Libya out of the protracted internal political crisis at the soonest possible time in accordance with the conclusions of the Berlin international conference and Resolution 2510 of the UN Security Council."

Bogdanov had discussed in a telephone conversation yesterday with Vice President of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, strengthening the Russian-Libyan relations, especially at the level of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
