Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov says the electoral process in Libya should include representatives of all political tendencies if we want its results accepted.

In an interview with Russia today, Bogdanov said that Saif Gaddafi, Khalifa Haftar, ex-interior minister Fathi Bashagha, as well as the heads of Parliament and the High Council of State Aqila Saleh And Khaled Al-Mishri should have the opportunity to run in the elections.

"Russia has several Libyan friends from different regions, and each of them has his political agenda.. excluding a candidate from the elections will result in neither he nor the area he represents from recognizing the election results," Bogdanov said.

The Russian official commended the UN Special Adviser Stephanie Williams for her role in the Libyan crisis through the UN, but at the same time, he noted that she is the advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libyan and does not have a mandate from the Security Council.

The current situation in Libya is exceptional, says Bogdanov, confirming that the UN so far has failed to find a successor to the outgoing UN envoy, Jan Kubis, who won the confidence of the Security Council and African and Arab countries.

With respect to the military track, Bogdanov disclosed that the 5+5 Joint Military Committee representatives demanded during a meeting in Moscow that the UN ceasefire monitoring mission does not include any of the five permanent members of the Security Council (Russia, China, the United States, Britain, and France).
