Berlin hosted a meeting ahead of the upcoming international conference on Libya slated for next November.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the US, France, the UK, Italy, Russia, Egypt, the UAE, Arab League and European Union.
Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that they had exchanged thoughts and proposals on how to resolve the Libyan crisis as soon as possible.
Upon the invitation of Germany, the stakeholders wish to reach a political settlement that can end the conflict in Libya as the UNSMIL is proving ineffective in this regard.
Earlier, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel said all efforts should focus on deesclation in Libya and avoid reaching a proxy war in there.
"Germany will work on avoiding a proxy war in Libya as it threatens the stability of all Africa." Merkel told the German Parliament.
Meanwhile, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, told reporters on Wednesday that they are working to launch with Italy and France an initiative that can save Libya from collapse.
He told an Italian newspaper as he visits the country to meet the Italian President that immigration issues is tied to the situation in Libya and thus Europe must exert more efforts to help the country.
