Human Rights Solidarity has issued an urgent appeal for intervention to protect a group of detainees in one of Benghazi detention centers.

The HRS said in a statement on Friday that 11 prisoners including four minors, who are now held at Kwaifiya Prison, are in danger of being subjected to humiliation after pressure is being exerted on the public prosecutor to move them to the notorious Barsis Prison where they would be exposed to a substantial risk of being tortured and killed.

Barsis is under the control of a tribal militia led by Farig Al-Abdali and other outlaws.

The HRS expressed concern about the fate of the prisoners and called on the public prosecutor not to move the prisoners. It also called on the UNSMIL to intervene and secure the release of the prisoners who have been in detention for more than a year without trial.
