Authorities in Libya have arrested a suspect in connection with the failed bomb attack on the Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli last year.

The Central Security Squad, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department, arrested the suspect, whose name was not given, in Tripoli some days ago.

"Initial reports showed that the suspect was tasked by some parties staying outside Libya to carry out this attack and other attacks for money to undermine security in the capital." The CSS said, without identifying the mastermind of these attacks.

The suspect has admitted to the attack in addition to another planned car bomb attack outside the embassy.

In February 2015, an explosive device was placed alongside the Sudanese Embassy but it was dismantled before exploding.
