The Attorney General has established a security room to investigate incidents concerning the smuggling of subsidized urea fertilizer out of the country.

In a statement Saturday, the Attorney General cautioned that it would prosecute everyone who violates the regulating legislation, including distributors and farmers.

The Attorney General's office met with the competent authorities to discuss "the unfair distribution" of urea fertilizer to its beneficiaries and to find a mechanism that would prevent the product from falling into the hands of smugglers, the office stated.

It indicated that the smuggling networks are disposing of the product through specific channels that contributed to the increase in its prices.

The meeting also reconsidered re-setting the urea quota allocated to municipalities according to the actual needs of the agricultural units within their scope.
