The Chief of the Presidential Guard, Najmi Al-Nakowa, has announced a ban on entering Tripoli with light and heavy weapons, saying all unlicensed weapons will be collected by the relevant authorities in Tripoli, Libyan News Agency (LANA) in Tripoli reported.

The decision came in an expanded security meeting of the Joint Operations Room in Mitiga Airbase in Tripoli with many military and security officials from west Libya present.

LANA reported that Al-Nakowa urged all Arab and foreign embassies to come back to Tripoli and resume work as the capital is stable and secure, stressing this security must be used in the right way.

The commander of the Joint Operations Room, Colonel Abdelbasit Marwan, said that he discussed in the meeting the security procedures and the troubles that are getting in the way of stability in the capital, LANA added.

LANA also reported the meeting organizers as saying that meeting wanted to touch upon the services and issues related to Libyans and the security of Tripoli, in addition to the activation of the police stations in the city.

Tripoli military zone commander, Belqasim Mohammed, Al-Nakowa, and the Tripoli Security Department Director, Salah Al-Samowi, as well as general intelligence, investigations apparatuses, and the security preparations committee chief Abdelrahman Al-Tawell were all present in the meeting, besides other Libyan army officers from the western region.
