Aman Bank said it had suspended work temporarily due to the "riots and armed violence" that took place Wednesday in front of its headquarters in Gurji, Tripoli.

The violence caused great damage to bank's building, a statement by the bank said.

"All documents and money deposits of the clients are intact and safe as usual." The bank added.

Aman Bank indicated that work will resume shortly by activating nearby branches in safe places.

Clashes with medium and light weapons erupted this morning in front of Aman Bank HQ in Gurji, Tripoli after one resident was killed by the brigade tasked to secure the bank.

The man was killed after he clashed with the brigade's personnel, sources added.
