The Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum said Monday that his country's mediation to find a political solution in Libya is ongoing despite the serious field developments.

Boukadoum's remarks came at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament as it discussed regional issues.

He added that Algeria was doing all it could to alleviate tensions and convince different Libyan parties to resume political and peaceful solutions, adding that Algeria will continue its efforts in line with the improvement of countries' health situation so Libyans can be encouraged to return to political negotiations.

Algeria has been leading over the last weeks some diplomatic efforts to bring together Libyan conflict parties, proposing to host in next July a political dialogue to reach a solution to the crisis.

The Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune told reporters last week that they were very close to reaching a solution in Libya and to launching a political process, but the efforts had failed, explaining that some parties hindered Algeria's efforts as they thought they would lead to a diplomatic success.
