The Egyptian President, Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, discussed with the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, the need for mercenaries and foreign forces to withdraw from Libya and the parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in a synchronous manner to help Libyans achieve stability, according to a statement by the spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency.

The remarks came in a meeting for Al-Sisi and Menfi in Cairo in the presence of the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, Head of Intelligence, Abbas Kamel, and Libyan Arab League representative, Abdul Mutalib Idriss.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments in Libya and agreed on coordination to follow up on the political process amid the ongoing transitional period in the country.

In the meantime, Al-Sisi confirmed Egypt's support for the best interest of Libya and the Libyan people as well as their sovereignty, while Menfi hailed the efforts by Cairo for security and stability in Libya by supporting national reconciliation and unification of state institutions.
