The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj has met with the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame in Tripoli and discussed the briefing Salame provided to the Security Council last Wednesday.

Salame renewed his stance that sees no military solution to the crisis in Libya and Al-Sarraj reiterated that the attackers and their offensive against Tripoli will be defeated, saying there should be new rules for the political process that takes into account what happened since April 04.

The meeting was attended by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator Yacoup Al-Hilo as the meeting went over the humanitarian needs of the people damaged by the war, the IDPs and the illegal immigrants.

Salame said in his Wednesday briefing at the Security Council that the UNSMIL should have expanded mandate with more international support to push the warring parties in Libya to resume the political process.

He also warned that Libya could end up with two terrible scenarios; the continuation of fighting and terrorist threats and the escalation of foreign military involvement.
