The Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, met with Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar on Tuesday for talks that focused on maintaining stability in Libya and efforts to unify the Libyan military institution.

HCS members Hammad Brikao and Noureddine Sultan, besides the charge d'affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Turkey, Abdullah Shaaban, also joined Tuesday's meeting in Ankara.

A statement by the HCS media office said the meeting touched upon Turkey's support for building a unified Libyan army by training and providing consultations whenever requested.

Minister Akar highlighted the 500-year-old ties of friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Libya, stressing his country's continued support for the Libyans, especially in the field of military training.

The Turkish official emphasized that his country will do its utmost to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to Libya according to the concept of "Libya for the Libyans" and stressed the importance of taking all initiatives to prevent conflicts and the bloodshed of brothers.
