The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri, has been invited by the UN Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, to meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh in Cairo.

Al-Mishri’s media office said he would consider the significance of the visit and its impact on resolving entanglements in Libya, especially the deadlock in the political track, adding that Al-Mishri believes the visit is not the target but the seriousness of the other party (Saleh) is, particularly in finding a national consensus that ends the transitional phases by renewing political legitimacy via elections as soon as possible.

The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, met in Cairo on Wednesday with the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh, the Presidential Council’s spokeswoman Najwa Weheba said, adding that they had discussed the need for the success of constitutional talks in Cairo between the HoR and High Council of State.

Weheba told Libyan News Agency Thursday that the meeting went over the political situation and the way out of the ongoing impasse in order to reach elections as soon as possible.

Anadolu Agency said earlier on Wednesday, reporting a member of the High Council of State, that Al-Mishri would meet with Saleh and Menfi in two days in Cairo.
