The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri has condemned what he described as "the violations of the UNSMIL" as it had contacted HCS members individually and invited them to attend Geneva political talks.

"No one of the members had responded to the UNSMIL. HCS wants to end the ongoing crisis and take Libya to a state of stability and security." Al-Mishri said on Monday.

Al-Mishri indicated that there's no military solution to the Libyan crisis, adding that only political solutions can end the conflict. He also called for real sanctions on the parties hindering the dialogue and on those who are not respecting the UN resolutions.

Al-Mishri said the attendees of Geneva political talks would have no excuse now but to leave after Khalifa Haftar's forces had violated the ceasefire and attempted to advance on different frontlines on last Friday.

Meanwhile on February 26, the UN held political talks for Libyan conflict parties in the presence of women and independent figures while in the absence of High Council of State and House of Representatives' delegates.
