Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC) Head, Abdullah Al-Lafi, made a visit to Tobruk on Tuesday for talks with Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh.

A statement by the PC said the meeting comes within the framework of efforts to achieve the most progress regarding consensus between the political parties represented in the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

Al-Lafi discussed with Saleh ways for a successful political process with an intra-Libyan agreement on a roadmap approved by the HoR, which leads to holding free and transparent elections.

The PC said the elections would fulfill the aspirations of the Libyan people and guarantee a peaceful transfer of power within the shortest possible time.

Meanwhile, Al-Lafi described the meeting as successful and expressed his gratitude for Saleh, who stressed the need to take fateful decisions according to approved and agreed mechanisms, as stated by Al-Lafi.
